Paraguay - General Map

In addition to its neighbour Bolivia, Paraguay is the only other landlocked country in South America. With a total area of 406.752 square kilometers, it is listed as the 60th largest countries of the globe. The density of population is relatively low as, with only 5.2 million inhabitants (12,6 per square kilometer). Paraguay occupies place 106 on the world scale. With regard to climatic conditions, the country can be divided in two great regions:

The Eastern Region (in reality it must be considered as the North Region, but its name is due to its location to the West of the River Paraguay) consists of a more dry and hot zone than the South, and the Oriental Region (to the South, situated to the East of the River Paraguay). In both regions, there are impressive fauna and flora.
